Visit of doctoral student Mengmeng Liu (Uni. of Glasgow) in the Laboratory of Proteomics

Ph.D. at the Cardiology Service of Small Animal Hospital, University of Glasgow, UK, Mengmeng Liu, spent two weeks at the Veterinary Faculty in Zagreb, within the VetMedZg Laboratory of Proteomics, where she participated in the joint research entitled "The proteomic investigation for the identification of cardiac biomarkers in feline disease'' conducted between Professor Anne French and Liza Koster of the University of Glasgow and the ERA Chair Team. Particular interest in research is focused on heart failure due to primary cardiomyopathy, or biomarkers associated with the cardio-renal axis and inflammation. During her stay at the faculty, Mengmeng Liu also held a lecture for employees of the Internal Medicine Clinic on the subject  "Grow a Mitral Valve in Petri Dish - Development of 3D Mitral Valve Construct for Canine Mitral Valve Disease Research." In summary, constructs of canine mitral  valve have been successfully developed in vitro. It is believed that they are promising models for MMVD research, enabling new insights into understanding the disease.
