Meeting on mutual cooperation with researchers from Poland

A meeting on the subject of mutual cooperation in research and project applications was held within the VetMedZg project, with Professor Stanislav Winiarczyk from the Institute for Epidemiology of the University of Lublin, Poland. Professor Winiarczyk, a former Dean of the Veterinary Faculty in Lublin, expressed great interest in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb and the VetMedZg project. At the meeting prof. Winiarczyk was introduced to the ERA Chair Team researchers, who presented their work and current research. Professor Winiarczyk leads a team of 25 people in the lab, focusing primarily on the identification of biomarkers and proteins, babeziosis and diabetes mellitus in dogs. They also collaborate with the Faculty of Medicine in Lublin. Prof. Winiarczyk also shared his great experience in withdrawing money from the EU Structural Funds, as the Veterinary Faculty in Lublin received projects worth 25 million euro. The joint focus of these two research groups would be aimed at creating a more extensive project and research in the area of babeziosis by applying complementary methods, given the research conducted by researchers at both faculties. Collaboration is planned to start with several introductory meetings, in particular with the ERA Chair Holder, Professor David Eckersall, and by initiating the exchange of researchers and training between the two institutions.
